SIUE's Braxton Klavins ran his second fastest 400-meter race of the season but did not qualify for the finals at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

La Derrick Ward earned SIUE s best-ever finish at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championship Thursday with fourth place in the long jump.

Nine newcomers will join SIUE's Cross Country and Track and Field programs beginning this fall.

Competing alongside some of the nation s best track and field athletes, SIUE junior La Derrick Ward finished 15th in the long jump at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif.

SIUE gained some valuable experience at the NCAA Division I Track and Field West Preliminaries at John McDonnell Track and will have three competitors advancing to the next level.

Jatavia Wright and Braxton Klavins both qualified for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday with impressive performances at John McDonnell Track.
